Lee Jorgensen : About me
Published : 01/02/08
I am a full time web designer working in-house for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council by day and for my freelance clients by night.
I've worked in digital media since 1996 when I joined Blackburn College as a Research Assistant working on European funded multimedia projects and advising businesses on best practice for using digital media. I developed a passion for web design as it began to take off big time and got on the web standards wagon in 2003 after discovering Zeldman and reading Jeff Veen's Art and Science of web design. I cut my web teeth on the AKRI website and have taken freelance clients on since then also managing to squeeze an MSc in Multimedia Computing in at the same time.
I jumped across the public sector from academia into local government in 2005 to do more business support, advising local companies on best practice for their websites and securing grant funding for the eligible.
In 2007 I moved across to the Communications team to look after the Council website and Intranet using the lumbering giant of a CMS that is Amaxus. By night I enjoy the sprightly flexibility of MODX for developing websites for my exclusive club of clients. ;)
My company is called Funzig because I used to be in a bendy pronk band called Funzig. This site used to be the band site but since we mothballed the music I've hijacked the domain for my own ends (and the slight SEO edge an 8 year old domain gets). If you are at all interested in tolerating the noise we made you can hear it on Mr Woods site which is called "Bibbletang". He is somewhat stranger than I am... But only just.
Other stuff I like
- Nasty guitar music, preferably live.
- The Damned
- Cardiacs
- Marmite
- Tandoori Chicken Chilli Masala
- Lager
- The Chronicles of Gor
